2794/Repairs
User Definable Rotary Encoder
This rotary encoder (263-0106-00) is of the optical variety and uses an incandescent lamp for operation. When the encoder completely fails it is likely that the lamp is burnt out. Luckily the lamp can be accessed and changed without severe disassembly work, only the removal of the cabinet is required. The lamp itself sits in a transparent plastic sleeve and can be pulled out easily once the leads are unsoldered from the front panel circuit board.
The lamp is a 5 V, T-3/4 miniature bulb, smaller than the standard 150-0048-01 5 V, T-1 lamp Tek used excessively, see comparison below. The current rating of the original lamp is unknown, but a 60 mA version seems to work fine e.g. JKL 6833 (Mouser 560-6833).
