The Tektronix 286 is a multiplexer introduced in 1970 for S-series sampling heads. It is useful in situations where the number of signals that need to be measured is more than the number of inputs channels on the oscilloscope being used. It fits in the 287 enclosure. It contains its own linear regulated supply so it can operate as a freestanding unit without a 287, if desired.
