During the design of the Type 82 plug-in, Motorola came out to visit Tek from its home engineering department and wanted to know what Tek needed in terms of FT, Bvceo, Ccb, etc. in a transistor. They produced the fast 2N700 Ge transistor for Tek. It is likely that Motorola was well along with the device’s process before they visited Tek. They provided Tek with samples for the 82.
