The deflection system according to the "Y" represents two delay lines based on long inductors with square turns. One side of each of these coils is a distributed deflecting plate.

Of course, the plate of "Y", connected at both ends, as it should be in the high-frequency deflection system. One end of each plate is connected to the signal source, the other end is connected to the housing through a matching load.

I must say that in Russia (where I come from) traditionally it is customary to call the "helical" design of the deflecting system was called the "traveling wave", unlike simply "distributed plates", combined in a delay line by separately wound chokes (such as 154-0230-00 CRT, applied in Tek 585). Accordingly, the CRT with the helical distirbured deflection plates was called the "Traveling Wave CRT".
