Early manuals for the [[3S76]] call for [[OC170]]s in the schematics but only mention 2N1516s in the parts list.
Early manuals for the [[3S76]] call out [[OC170]]s in the 1963 schematics but only mention 2N1516s in the parts list.
Later manuals, with schematics dated 1967, no longer call out [[OC170]] transistors anywhere.
It seems likely that [[OC170]]s were used in pre-production, and possibly very early production [[3S76]]s, but were changed to 2N1516s very quickly.

The 2N1516  (P/N 151-015) is a Germanium PNP transistor. It has a breakdown voltage of about 25 V and a maximum collector current of 10 mA. The minimum Beta is 20.

Please add additional specs.

Tektronix used the 2N1516 as a replacement for the earlier OC170. Unfortunately, the 2N1516 is also prone to failure due to internal tin needle formation. For more information on tin needles see the links below.

Due to tin whiskers growing inside the case, 2N1516s are a common source of problems on some equipment of the early 1960s. For more information, see the Germanium transistors page.

Early manuals for the 3S76 call out OC170s in the 1963 schematics but only mention 2N1516s in the parts list. Later manuals, with schematics dated 1967, no longer call out OC170 transistors anywhere. It seems likely that OC170s were used in pre-production, and possibly very early production 3S76s, but were changed to 2N1516s very quickly.
