The 12RS02 is a 64K RAM pack for the 1240 and 1241. It is meant to be used for storing settings and data. The user must have firmware version 5-2 or higher installed in order to use it.
The RAM pack stores settings using battery backed RAM. This lithium iodide battery will eventually fail and leak, damaging the PCB.
