92A90 is a designation severely overloaded by Tektronix. It refers to the DAS9200 Logic Analyzer 90 Channel acquisition board set as well as just about every adapter that can be connected to it, which engenders a great deal of confusion, particularly since the 92A90 is often referred to as a "probe".

Similarly, 92A60 refers to the 60-channel (i.e. partially-populated) version of the same board set... and all of the accessories that connect to it.

92A90 Acquisition Board Set

The 92A90 board is the "memory half" of a two-board set. It can be seen from the (detail) that the same PCBs are used for both the 92A90 and the 92A60 board sets. The 92A90 boards are fully-populated.

The set's second board is the YA9054-01 Controller Board. There are similarly two versions of the YA9054-01 based on the same PCB: The 90 Channel and the 60 Channel. Note that the 90-channel version is fully-populated.

92A90 Retargetable Buffer Probe

The 92A90 Retargetable Buffer Probe is the interface required for connecting a DAS9200 equipped with a 92A90 Acquisition Board to a target microprocessor via the Target Probe particular to that CPU. Target Probes were packaged along with their specific disassembly software and documentation (see below).

Important Note

The 92A90 Retargetable Buffer Probe packaging is identical to that of the 1230 Disassembly Probe Adapter (for use with the 1230), including the use of the DIN41612 96-pin A+B+C connector. This means that it is possible to plug a 1230 Disassembly Probe into the 92A90 Retargetable Buffer Probe. Similarly, Probe Adapters intended to be used with the 92A90 Retargetable Buffer Probe can be plugged into the 1230DPA. It is not known whether damage will result from such mis-matings.

92A60 Acquisition Board Set

It can be seen from the (detail) that the same PCBs are used for both the 92A90 and the 92A60 board sets. The 92A60 boards are partially-populated. Though the reader may be tempted to think that a 92A60 can be upgraded to a 92A90, this is unlikely to be the case. Though upgrade of the Memory Board might be accomplished with the addition of the necessary RAM and logic chips, the Controller Board requires a pair of ASICs (NEC μPD65060 gate arrays) that are certain to be unavailable.

The 92A60 board is the "memory half" of a two-board set, the other being the YA9054-00 Controller Board. There are similarly two versions of the YA9054-01: the 90 Channel and the 60 Channel.

92A60 Retargetable Buffer Probe

The 92A60 Retargetable Buffer Probe is the interface required for connecting a DAS9200 equipped with a 92A60 Acquisition Board to a target microprocessor via the Target Probe particular to that CPU. Target Probes were packaged along with their specific disassembly software and documentation (see below).

Important Note

The 92A60 Retargetable Buffer Probe packaging is identical to that of the 1230 Disassembly Probe Adapter (for use with the 1230), including the use of the DIN41612 96-pin A+B+C connector. This means that it is possible to plug a 1230 Disassembly Probe into the 92A60 Retargetable Buffer Probe. Similarly, Probe Adapters intended to be used with the 92A60 Retargetable Buffer Probe can be plugged into the 1230DPA. It is not known whether damage will result from such mis-matings, so careful, bubba.

Target Packages for use with the 92A90 Retargetable Buffer Probe

These are described as "Packages" because each consists of the hardware probe, disassembly software (on 3" or 5" floppy), and documentation.
