Cintra

Cintra, Inc. was a company in Sunnyvale, CA, that produced early desktop calculators. The company was founded in 1967 by Irwin Wunderman who died at age 74 on 23rd July 2005, see Irwin Wunderman (1931-2005) Obituary @ legacy.com.

The Cintra calculators were re-branded as Tektronix products when Tek bought Cintra in May 1971:

  • Scientist 909 desktop scientific calculator with a Nixie display
  • Statistician 911 desktop statistical calculator with a Nixie display
  • 926 Programmer provides programming functionality with conditionals, branching and subroutines for the 909/911
  • 928 Instructor (cassette interface)
  • 941 printer
  • 923 card reader
  • 920 "Repeater"
  • 905 Junction box

The Tektronix 21 and 31 Scientific Calculators introduced in 1973 replaced the Cintra designed calculators. They were the only and last calculators designed by Tektronix. The follow-on product was the 4051 Graphics System introduced in 1976.
