I feel that the Rotan and Rotan-related pages are poorly organized at the moment. There are several pages and documents that pertain to Rotan and/or Engine Analyzer systems but there isn't much tying them together.

Documents Referencing ROTAN

Document Class Title Authors Year Links
Tek rotan 500-series.pdf Article A Dynamic Angular Transducer for Oscilloscope Display of Rotation-Related Phenomena George Edens 1958

Documents Referencing Engine Analyzer System

Document Class Title Authors Year Links
070-0890-00.pdf Manual Engine Analyzer System 1968
Tekscope 1969 V1 N2 Apr 1969.pdf Article A New Insight Into Reciprocating Machinery Bill Verhoef 1969
062-1074-00.pdf Book Measurement Concepts: Engine Analysis Jim Thurman 1970

What should we do?

  1. Expand the existing Rotan page?
  2. Make a new Category for Rotan-related (and engine-related) stuff?
  3. something else?

Since Rotan (better ROTAN) seems to refer specifically to the ~1958 magnetic angular transducer, I would keep this page but link it from Engine Analyzer System which does have an index of system components. I've added some crossreferences in the meantime. --Peter (talk) 01:18, 5 December 2023 (PST)
I've tried to capture the chronology (as I understand it) in the preamble of the Engine Analyzer System article. Apparently, the ROTAN label was dropped between 1961 (182/183) and 1967. --Peter (talk) 02:46, 5 December 2023 (PST)
