CRT socket issue
On the 224 and 222 scopes, the CRT neck socket is known to come loose or break. The clips that are meant to hold it together become brittle and break off easily, requiring super glue to fix it.
A loose socket would also be a reason for inappropriate blanking of the trace and its vector graphics.
