}} with multi-band post accelerators, produced from 1948 onward.
A 5XP-A series with tighter tolerances followed in 1953, and then a 5XP-B range in 1954 that had an aluminized screen for higher brightness.
Compared to earlier tubes, they have improved vertical deflection sensitivity,
which was achieved by decreasing vertical deflection plate width and reducing spacing between the plates,
at the cost of limiting vertical scan to as little as 1.25" (at 20 kV acceleration).
Maximum post-acceleration voltage for the 5XP is 25.5 kV.
Typical conditions are stated as −2 kV on the cathode and +12 kV on the post-acceleration anode.
The 5XP was used in early models of the 513 and 517, before Tektronix switched these to Tek-made CRTs.
