The 1230DPA Disassembly Probe Adapter is the interface required for connecting the "DP"-prefixed Disassembly Probes to the 1230. It requires that four acquisition cards be installed in the analyzer, and connects to the analyzer's inputs via four ribbon cables. The Disassembly Probe connects to the DPA via a 96-pin DIN connector. Users should note that when the 1230DPA is connected to the analyzer without a Disassembly Probe, the 1230 will report an "incompatible probe" error.

Functionally, the DPA appears to be very similar to much of the discrete logic contained within the PM4xx series of probes. However, as the DPA contains two ASICS (probably just gate arrays), it would be less trivial to reverse-engineer.

Important Note

The 1230DPA packaging is identical to that of the 92A90 and 92A60 Retargetable Buffer Probes (for use with the DAS9200). This means that it is possible to plug a 1230 Disassembly Probe into the 92A90/92A60 Retargetable Buffer Probe. Similarly, Probe Adapters intended to be used with the 92A90/92A60 Retargetable Buffer Probe can be plugged into the 1230DPA. It is not known whether damage will result from such mis-matings, so watch it, cowboy.
