335/Repairs
Stuck handle
I acquired a non-working 335. Power up yields flashing green LED, suggesting to me the standard tantalum issues... However... the handle was locked SOLID in front of the scope and somewhat in the way... One side of the mechanism came to pieces OK - I think that the original grease had dried and caked solid. I was fearing that I might damage the case if I tried too hard to remove the handle but chose to set the scope on its side and drip isopropanol into the hinge and it was free within five minutes!
Stuck case/sleeve
I'm not looking forward to what I find in here when I finally get the case off. It seems to be stuck solid...
I'll follow up with anything I learn from the inside and further repair. I don't have time to repair for a couple of months but was keen to assess in case of anything leaking and causing further damage. The front is in really good condition bar one cracked clear plastic knob/skirt. Sharing here in case it prompts anyone to share experience - though this isn't the best platform for dialogue - I'll bring it up in other places.
