The Tektronix 4170 Local Graphics Processing Unit is a 16-bit computer based on the Intel 8086 CPU (with 8087 math coprocessor), running the CP/M-86 operating system. It has dual 5.25" floppy drives and an optional 5 or 10 MB internal hard drive.

The 4107 has no built-in graphics hardware, it is designed to he used with serial terminals like the contemporary 4107 color graphics terminal.

The 4107 was supplied with OS, FORTRAN compiler, MODEM-86 communication package, PLOT 10 graphics library, GSX Graphics System Extension, and various other software.
