Hickock Electrical Instrument Co. is an electronics company founded in 1910 by Robert D. Hickok Sr. in Cleveland, OH. They are still in business but nowadays are mainly active in the automotive test equipment area.
In the late 1950s,, Hickock and other companies (Lavoie Laboratories, Jetronix Industries) produced unauthorized copies of Tektronix equipment under military contracts.
Tektronix sued the US government and Hickock in February 1961. The action was not settled (in their favour) until May 1970, the final award not being settled until early 1979 at just over $4 million.
