The Tektronix 11A81 is a 3 GHz single-channel sampler/amplifier plug-in for the 11403A and the CSA404. The 11A81 receives an "acquisition strobe" signal from the mainframe, and samples the input signal. The sampled signal is fed to the mainframe, where it is digitized and displayed. This architecture allows the 11A81 to provide higher bandwidth than the 11k plug-in to mainframe signal path.
Development of the 11A81 was led by Murlan Kaufman.
A 165-2448-00 (U950) diode bridge IC is used for over-voltage protection. A 165-2392-00 (U650) H2392 sampling bridge performs the sampling.
