8608 Tube

The 8608  (European: EL5070) (P/N 154-0491-00) is a 10-watt power pentode vacuum tube with a 9-pin Magnoval (B9D) base.

The 8608 is used in the final stage of the vertical amplifier in the 549, 556 and 3A7.

According to Phil Crosby's account of the 556 development, the 8608 was created by Amperex at Tektronix' request – a modification of the 8233 bringing the anode connection out to a top contact in order to reduce output capacitance.
