The Tektronix 4051E01 is a ROM extender for the 4051.
It provides eight slots into which ROM Packs and interfaces can be plugged.
The 4051 can accommodate a maximum of two ROM Expander units, each plugged into one 4051 backpack slot; a ROM Expander may not be plugged into another ROM Expander. Up to nine ROMs can be accommodated in the 4051 with one ROM Expander, and up to 16 ROMs with two.
The 4051E01 adds interrupt capability to the backpack slots of the 4051 in addition to those used by the GPIB interface. Multiple RS-232 output ports and multiple parallel interface devices are supported.
Although a ROM Expander has its own power cord, the power supply is controlled through the ON/OFF state of the 4051.
