The Intersil ICM7218 (P/N 156-1621-00, 156-1622-00) is an 8-digit, 7-segment LED driver monolithic integrated circuit. It was second-sourced by Maxim and others.
The ICM7218A and ICM7218B variants take serial input data, the ICM7218C and ICM7218D parallel.
The ICM7218A and ICM7218C variants drive common-anode displays, the ICM7218B and ICM7218D common-cathode.
The 7218 contains an 8×8 RAM and can drive eight 7-segment digits with decimal points, or an array of up to 8×8 LEDs. It can decode input data, or address LEDs individually.
