"Jack" Murdock]], [[Miles Tippery]] and (later) accountant [[Glenn McDowell]] decided to found a company to produce their first oscilloscope.  It incorporated on January 2, 1946 as ''Tektronix'' (a name suggested by Tipepry) and was headquartered in Portland, Oregon.  In 1956, the company moved to Beaverton, Oregon.
