The Tektronix SA501 is a signature analyzer plug-in for the TM500 system.
It is also known as the 067-1090-00.
It requires a P6405 probe for the data input, and a P6458 4-channel probe for control inputs (clock, start, stop, qualifier). The P6458 can be substituted by the similar, more common P6451 8+1 channel probe without increase in functionality.

Internals
The SA501 is implemented in standard ECL and TTL logic without a microprocessor. A linear feed back shift register accumulates the CRC. The display is multiplexed, with an IM5610 32×8 PROM used as a 7-segment decoder.
It contains a switch-mode converter fed off the +33.5 V supply to create the internal +5 V rail.
The manual includes signatures for troubleshooting a SA501 with another signature analyzer.
