The Intel 8051 is an 8-bit microcontroller monolithic integrated circuit (family), introduced in 1980.

The 8051 is the original version with 4 KB ROM and 128 byte RAM. The 8052 had 8 KB ROM and 256 byte RAM. There are also EPROM-based variants (8751 etc.), ROM-less versions (8031 with 128 bytes RAM, 8032 with 256 bytes RAM), and countless later versions from a large number of manufacturers in NMOS and CMOS, also with more peripherals built in.
