Marion Ted Goodfellow (? – ?) , a musician with ceramics as a hobby, suggested making ceramic strips with silvered notches to act as insulator and support for the components.

Goodfellow joined Tek in August 1950. He had studied for four years with Dr. H.L.West of Stoke-on-Trent, England, a retired ceramics engineer. He later spent five years making pottery and stoneware, as well as designing and building porcelain firing kilns for sale [1].
Tek ceramic strips were produced in electric kilns designed by Ted and built in-house[2].
Ted was also a ham radio operator (W7YEP).
