Robert E. Metzler (b. July 28, 1934 in Plymouth, IN – d. Aug. 11, 2018) grew up in Indiana, Maryland and Chicago. He attended Manchester College in Indiana from 1952-1954, then lived in California and Southern Indiana where he was Chief Engineer for several radio stations and completed his physics degree at University of Louisville, before working as an electronics engineer for General Electric and other companies in Virginia.
In 1973 he moved to Portland to work for Tektronix.
In 1984, he left Tek with Bruce Hofer to found Audio Precision.
