The 067-506 contains a feedback loop that maintains constant RF amplitude at the output connector regardless of small variations in load or internal variations, e.g., as the unit warms up. This is accomplished by using an envelope detector to measure the peak-to-peak output voltage, and using the envelope signal as feedback to set the plate voltage of the Colpitts RF oscillator, thereby controlling its swing.
