The Tektronix 1461 is an Insertion Test Signal Generator Deleter / Inserter for 625/50 PAL television systems. It is capable of inserting either or both of two internally generated insertion test signals, EBU Line 17 and EBU Line 330, that can be individually programmed to any line within the vertical interval.
The EBU line 17 insertion test signal consists of a 2T bar, 2T pulse, 20T modulated pulse, and five-step stair case. The EBU line 330 insertion test signal consists of a 2T bar, 2T pulse, and five-step modulated staircase.
Instruments with Option 1 (Source Identification Code Generator) can additionally delete a Line 16 test signal and/or replace it with a SID signal. In the event of power failure, actuation of a remote bypass switch, or removal of the 1461 from the rack, a relay switch in the interface will re-route the program signal, maintaining program line continuity with unchanged signal delay.
