:::::::: My idea was something more like the 7904 (sorry for messing up the table). Then the sorting by year would make more sense: which was the most expensive device in that year. You could see how prices develop. Problem: I used the prices "2022 Dollar". this will be no use in a few years. AND its a lot of work. So, any guess how the table can be kept up to date with litle work? Greetings --Rubasch (talk) 07:37, 25 October 2023 (PDT)

R114 has an absolute permittivity/dielectric constant of ≈2 as a liquid and near 1 as a gas.

As a substitude for the I used with a dielectric constant of 2.

The diala oil has a high break down voltage of 70 kV, is enviroment friendly, not corrosive and cheap.<br>
TM500 Power Supply
Drinking the oil is deadly, because it will creap into the lung!

Disasembling the probe body:
{| class="wikitable sortable" style="text-align:center;"
* The resistor should never be touched
|+ TM500 Power Supplies
* the resistor is plugged in and can be pulled out
|-
* The "golden cap" (resistor end cap) is screwed in. Use a big phillips screwdriver, put some cloth around it so no edges poke out, press it gently into the cap and turn. Be carefull!

The compensation box is modified as follow:
TM 500 Generators
* C1: 47 pF ceramic/polystyrene capacitor parallel
* C2: 220 pF ceramic/polystyrene capacitor parallel
* C3: 100 pF polystyrene capacitor parallel

Compensation:
{| class="wikitable" style="text-align:center;"

|- style="font-weight:bold; background-color:#efefef;"
* the probe cable should be stretched out, because it has an importend influence on the first 100 ns

As a rule:

* if you can't tight C1/C2/C3 not as hard as you need for compensation: you need more capacity.

* if you can't loose C1/C2/C3 not as much as you need for compensation: you have too much capacity.

Using only ceramic capacitor seems to increase the ringing.

For soldering the capacitors into the compensation box, a hi-power soldering iron is needed as some pins have to be soldered directly to the chassis.

Test are done with a natronic probe calibrator.
: This is great, thanks!  I had a quick look and only found 20 liter cans as the smallest order unit, do you have a source for less (group purchase - Europe?)
:: --Peter (talk) 03:36, 19 October 2023 (PDT)
::: It took me some time to figure out the right solution. At my company we bought 50 l. I use that. For someone living next to Berlin I can give a refill ;-) sending it to the US will be to expensive, I think. Giving away 1-2 l should be OK, so if some people get together, I can help. On the other hand, many other oils should be usefull, I just haven't tested them. Greetings, --Rubasch (talk) 05:26, 19 October 2023 (PDT)

7000 Overview Table

Hi, I've extended the table a bit, what do you say?

Is writing speed in cm/μs not a cleaner spec than div/μs?
Can you add the digitizers please?
--Peter (talk) 08:11, 20 September 2023 (PDT)
checked in catalogs - the R7704 remained non-A and was available until 1985 -- Peter
 • about the 7603: what is "some" cooling? :-)
some models, as noted on the page --Peter
 • are you sure with the 7623B writing speed? should it not more like the 7633?
spec from 1991 catalog, p.68 --Peter
I love the table! I came here to mention that I have a 7704A with a cooling fan - but you also have the question re the 7603. The weirdest thing is that the 7704A service manual makes no mention of a fan! This led me down a bit of a rabbit hole of reading... I'd not be surprised if some 7603s had cooling fans. I thought that there might have been a period they tried some fans before Tek change from linear PSUs to the more efficient switching PSUs - I've found no data. Qfissler (talk) 12:24, 20 September 2023 (PDT)
I've condensed the writing speed columns into two less, and added some of the missing data from my notes. --Peter (talk) 10:12, 21 September 2023 (PDT)
Looks a lot better! Thank you for your effort. --Rubasch (talk) 00:07, 22 September 2023 (PDT)

On the page 7000-series scopes there are production dates for the digitizers. But there is no source for that information... --Rubasch (talk) 10:59, 22 September 2023 (PDT)

What do think about condensing the information like in the example I have added above, 7623 (A,B)?

--Peter (talk) 03:36, 19 October 2023 (PDT)
I like it - but in that form, it loses a little bit of info where the 7623 with no suffix was available while the 7623A was also available - it's easy combining A and B by comma separating - but a null suffix... how would we show that? Hmmm - I tried (-) - just to show what I mean. Qfissler (talk) 04:48, 19 October 2023 (PDT)
I also thought about combining scopes like the 7834--> 7934 but not sure if it still makes sense. Right now have not a lot of time for this. So everybody feel free to edit! --Rubasch (talk) 05:30, 19 October 2023 (PDT)
We know from catalogs or announcements in ads, articles in TekScope etc. when new models came out. There is no comparable hard info on discontinuation - mostly this comes from models no longer appearing in catalogs. I think it is therefore not meaningful to infer from the model pages that there was any sort of overlap - at some time in 1991 you got a 7623B, whether there's a theoretical choice that you could have requested a 7623A as well is not substantiated by the information we have collected – therefore the box for the first year when the newer model came out would simply show that, i.e. 1991 shows "B". I also find the "(-)" symbol very awkward. The colored box says the model was available in that year, the fact that there is no suffix in that box says it's the base model. Thirdly, I would only combine suffixes, not different models. Just my opinion in the "keep it simple" spirit. --Peter (talk) 06:37, 19 October 2023 (PDT)
Thanks - yeah - I just chose a random thing - but your explanation makes it clear that we don't need to worry about that null suffix at all. Qfissler (talk) 07:04, 19 October 2023 (PDT)
Maybe also put the R-Versions in?
Strange. As soon as I put this comment to the article, one row loses it colours (only) in the preview --13:07, 19 October 2023 (PDT)
I think it's because that row uses CSS and fails in preview for me, too.Qfissler (talk) 15:24, 19 October 2023 (PDT)
My idea was something more like the 7904 (sorry for messing up the table).
